Botox, Dysport, Daxxify or Jeuveau? How to Choose
"I want Botox" is one of the most common things we hear at Permaskin Med Spa. But Botox is actually one brand in a family of treatments called neuromodulators, or wrinkle relaxers. We offer four of them: Botox, Dysport, Daxxify and Jeuveau. Here is how they compare.
What they all do
All four temporarily relax the muscles that cause expression lines. When the muscle moves less, the skin above it smooths out. They are most often used for:
Frown lines between the brows (the "11s")
Forehead lines
Crow's feet around the eyes
- 1Every time the muscle tightens, it folds the skin above it into a line.
- 2A small amount of wrinkle relaxer is placed into that muscle.
- 3The muscle relaxes and moves less.
- 4The skin above smooths out, and lines soften.
The differences
Botox: the best-known option, with a long track record for smoothing lines and helping prevent deeper wrinkles.
Dysport: known for a soft, natural-looking finish. It tends to spread a little more, which can suit larger areas like the forehead.
Jeuveau: developed for aesthetic use and FDA-approved for frown lines, with refined, precise results.
Daxxify: a newer option that may last longer than traditional wrinkle relaxers for some people.
How long do results last?
You usually start to see a difference within a few days, with full results at about 2 weeks. For most people results last around 3 to 4 months. Daxxify may last longer for some clients. How long yours last depends on your muscles, your metabolism and the area treated.
Which one is right for me?
There isn't one "best" product. The right choice depends on the area, how strong your muscles are, how natural you want to look and your budget. At your free consultation, your provider looks at how your face moves and recommends the product and number of units for you.
