Removal
Say goodbye to visible spider veins and broken capillaries.

Vein Removal
Whether caused by genetics, aging, hormones or the sun, we treat unwanted veins on the face and legs with laser therapy or sclerotherapy, depending on the area and type of vein. Treatments are non-surgical and quick, with minimal downtime.
What it helps with
In three steps
Energy reaches the vessel
Light energy is absorbed by the haemoglobin inside the vein, or a fine solution is placed into it, depending on its size and location.
The vessel closes
The vessel wall seals shut. Blood immediately reroutes through healthier vessels nearby, which is why closing a spider vein does not affect circulation.
Your body reabsorbs it
Over the next few weeks the closed vessel is broken down and cleared away, and it fades from view.

The honest detail
Spider veins are one of the quickest things we treat, and one of the most satisfying, but there are two things worth understanding first.
What the session actually feels like
A brief sting per vessel, like a tiny rubber band. Facial veins take five to ten minutes. A patch on the leg takes fifteen to twenty. There is nothing to recover from; most people go straight back to work.
What results actually look like
Facial veins often disappear within two to four weeks and frequently need only one session. Leg veins are slower and less predictable: they can look darker or more obvious for a week before they fade, and larger ones may need two or three treatments. Expect a significant improvement rather than a completely blank canvas.
Why new ones appear later
Treating a vein closes it for good; your body then reabsorbs it. What it does not do is change the reason it formed. Genetics, hormones, pregnancy, standing at work and sun exposure keep producing new ones, which is why most people come back for a short top-up every year or two. That is maintenance, not failure.
When we send you elsewhere
If we see bulging, ropey veins, aching legs, swelling at the end of the day or skin changes around the ankle, that is a deeper venous problem and surface treatment would be cosmetic work on top of something untreated. We will say so and point you to a vascular specialist. It happens a few times a year and we would rather lose the booking.
Treatment areas
- Facial spider veins: cheeks, nose, chin
- Leg spider veins
- Broken capillaries
- Small blue or red thread veins
Before & after
What you do in the days either side of your appointment makes a real difference to your result. Print this, screenshot it, or ask us for a copy on the day.
- No tanning (sun or spray) for 2 weeks
- No lotions, oils or creams on the area that day
- Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and alcohol for 48 hours
- Wear loose clothing if treating legs
- Tell us about medical conditions or medications
- Mild redness, swelling or bruising is normal and temporary
- No hot baths, saunas or hard exercise for 48 hours
- Wear SPF daily if treating the face
- Do not rub or massage the area
- Compression stockings may be recommended for legs
- Avoid tanning until fully healed
What happens afterwards
Careful, every time
Closing small surface veins does not affect the circulation in your leg or face; those vessels are not carrying meaningful blood flow. The main things we watch for are bruising, temporary discoloration, and making sure a deeper vein problem is not being missed.
How we keep you safe
- Free consultation to confirm the veins are suitable for surface treatment
- We refer you to a vascular specialist if we see signs of an underlying venous problem, rather than treating around it
- Cooling and, where helpful, numbing keep the session comfortable
- Protective eyewear is worn for laser treatment
- We start conservatively and reassess before treating further
This may not be right for you if
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have a history of blood clots or deep vein thrombosis
- You are taking blood thinners, unless cleared by your doctor
- The area is sunburnt, tanned or has an active rash
- You have larger bulging varicose veins, which need a vascular specialist
Please tell us about
- Any history of clots, DVT or circulation problems
- Any blood-thinning medication or supplement
- Whether you stand for long periods at work
- Any previous vein treatment
This page is general information, not medical advice. Every treatment at Permaskin begins with a free consultation, where we review your health history and tell you honestly whether this is the right choice for you. Individual results vary.
Good to know
What veins can be treated?
Small to medium spider veins and facial capillaries. Deeper varicose veins may need a vascular specialist.
What method do you use?
Laser vein removal (light energy that collapses the vein) or sclerotherapy (a solution that closes it off), depending on size, location and skin type.
Are results permanent?
Treated veins are reabsorbed by the body. New veins can appear over time, so maintenance may be needed.
Does it hurt?
Most clients feel a mild sting or snap. We use cooling and numbing for comfort.
How many sessions?
Some veins clear after one session; others need several.
