Scar & Stretch Mark Treatment
We reduce scars and stretch marks with our own method: professional microneedling combined with a custom healing serum of skin-repairing peptides, brighteners and calming ingredients. It breaks down scar tissue, improves texture and tone, fades pigmentation and smooths stretch marks. Suitable for every skin type and tone, with the depth and serum chosen for your skin.
What to expect
Sessions take 45–60 minutes, a little longer for large areas. Most clients need 3–6 sessions. Numbing is provided, and slight redness may last 24–48 hours. Improvement often shows after the 2nd or 3rd session.
What it helps with
In three steps
The scar tissue is softened
Controlled micro-injury breaks up the dense, disorganised collagen that makes a scar sit differently from the skin around it.
Repair is restarted
Your body responds by laying down new collagen and elastin, this time in a more normal pattern, which is what changes the texture.
The scar blends in
Over several sessions the scar flattens, softens and comes closer to the color of the skin around it. Older, silvery stretch marks improve more slowly than newer red ones.

The honest detail
This is the area where honesty matters most, because it is the area where people have most often been disappointed before.
What we can and cannot change
Scars and stretch marks are areas where the skin has healed with collagen laid down in the wrong pattern. We can reorganise a great deal of that: flatten raised scars, soften and fill depressed ones, and bring the color closer to the skin around them. What we cannot do is regrow skin that was never there. A good outcome is a mark that no longer catches your eye, not a mark that has gone.
Red stretch marks versus white ones
New stretch marks, the pink, red or purple ones, still have an active blood supply and they respond very well, often dramatically, within three or four sessions. Older silvery-white ones have no pigment or vessels left and improve more slowly, mainly in texture. If yours are new, do not wait; this is one of the few treatments where timing genuinely changes the result.
Acne scarring
The shape of the scar decides the approach. Rolling and boxcar scars respond well to collagen-building treatment. Narrow deep ice-pick scars are the hardest and often need several sessions or a combined approach. Most people with moderate acne scarring see a meaningful improvement over four to six sessions, and it is a visible enough change that they stop thinking about it in photographs.
C-section, surgical and injury scars
These are among the most rewarding things we treat, and among the most emotionally loaded. We wait until the scar is fully mature, usually at least six months, then work on flattening, softening and color. Numbness and tightness along a scar often improve alongside the appearance, which people rarely expect.
Photographs, and why we insist on them
Skin changes slowly and memory is unreliable. We photograph the area in the same light and the same position at the start and at intervals, because six weeks in, everyone underestimates how far they have come. It also keeps us honest with you if something is not working.
What it treats
- Tummy tuck scars
- C-section scars
- Surgical or injury scars
- Self-harm scars
- Acne scars
- Stretch marks from weight change, puberty or pregnancy
Before & after
What you do in the days either side of your appointment makes a real difference to your result. Print this, screenshot it, or ask us for a copy on the day.
- 2–3 days before: no retinol, glycolic acid, AHAs/BHAs, steroids or exfoliants on the area
- 24 hours before: no sun, makeup, lotion or body oil on the area
- Avoid alcohol and blood thinners unless prescribed
- Please do not come with infections, open wounds or sunburn
- Wait 2 weeks after peels, lasers, microneedling, Botox or fillers in the same area
- First 24–48 hours: redness is normal; keep the area clean and dry
- Apply the post-care serum as directed
- Next 3–5 days: no active skincare, direct sun, swimming, hot tubs or heavy exercise
- Use SPF if the area is exposed
- Follow your full series (usually 3–6 sessions)
What happens afterwards
Careful, every time
We will always tell you what is realistically achievable before you spend anything. Scars and stretch marks improve; they do not disappear. Anyone promising you otherwise is selling you something.
How we keep you safe
- Free consultation with an honest assessment of what we expect to achieve
- Photographs at the start so progress is measured, not guessed at
- Treatment approach matched to the scar type, age and your skin tone
- Suitable for all skin tones when the right approach is chosen
- Numbing applied before every session
- Sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart so the skin remodels fully in between
This may not be right for you if
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- The scar is less than 6 months old or still healing
- You have an active infection or open wound in the area
- You have taken isotretinoin (Accutane) in the last 6 months
- You have a history of keloid scarring, which needs specialist assessment first
Please tell us about
- How and when the scar happened
- Any previous treatment on it
- Any tendency to keloid or raised scarring
- Any medication affecting healing, including steroids
This page is general information, not medical advice. Every treatment at Permaskin begins with a free consultation, where we review your health history and tell you honestly whether this is the right choice for you. Individual results vary.
Good to know
Will my scar disappear completely?
No, and we will not tell you it will. What we can do is flatten it, soften the texture and bring the color closer to the skin around it, so it stops drawing the eye. Most clients see a marked improvement over a course of sessions.
Do stretch marks respond as well as scars?
Newer stretch marks, the red or purple ones, respond very well. Older silvery-white ones improve more slowly and need more sessions, but they do improve.
How many sessions will I need?
Usually three to six, spaced four to six weeks apart. Larger areas or older marks may need more.
Does it hurt?
We numb the area first. Most clients describe pressure and heat rather than pain, and it is over quickly.
Can you treat a C-section scar?
Yes, once it is fully healed, usually at least six months after surgery. It is one of the things we are asked for most often.
Is it suitable for darker skin?
Yes, when the right approach is used. We choose the method and settings specifically to avoid pigment change on deeper skin tones.
When will I see a difference?
Texture starts changing around four to eight weeks, and it keeps improving for several months as collagen remodels.
Will it come back?
The improvement is lasting. New scars or stretch marks can of course form from new causes.
